This show is a nice one to pick for checking out the 82 sound during the late portion of the show Jerry is growling seriously. I love it to me it says they were very into it.

Those of us who were hard core heads in the early to mid 80s often talked about this show as one of the best of this period. It was classic early 80s Dead, with a full first set including great versions of Jack Straw, Ramble On Rose, and the late 80s early 90s unheard of first set closing combo of LL Rain China > Rider.
Second set was a bit funky, but nice versions of Playin > Crazy Fingers when the Dead had just started doing Crazy Fingers again, an early version of Throwing Stones, and a phenomenal after drums sequence of Iko > Truckin > Goin Down the Road > Black Peter,> Round and Round > Sugar Mag
I remember during the Sugar Mag Weir was running around frantically from one side of the stage to the other, until finally he jumped out a couple of feet to a tiny speaker stack that was just off the front of the stage, where he actually sat down and strummed through the Sugar Mag jam. Wild, and one of the great Sugar Mags you will hear. I was lucky enough to download the soundboard when it was still available, but if this audience recording is of decent quality, you can't go wrong. Enjoy it!

i happened to see a cd cover art piece for this show, saw the setlist and decided to check it out...I am really pleasantly suprised by the sound on this aud from the dome, may even dl it...saw many a show at the dome of a lot of different bands, lived about an hour away growing up, sound is always an issue at the dome...this is the best i've ever heard a show sound from there from a tape source...well done to all involved in gobbling up the vibes!orangetown is always a fun place to visit for a day or nite and a show, liking this more and more as it moves along through the first set.
